The Palace
The Jaswant Niwas
Palace in Sailana (Situated on the Malwa Plateau) was
originally built in the 1750's. It was later added upon in the
early 1800's and the new portion was completed in 1898 AD.
The
Palace currently has 4 large double bedrooms with attached
dressing rooms and bathrooms. The interiors feature art deco
furniture, antique artifacts, paintings (by Ramada Ukil), a 30
foot long dining table, hunting trophies, historic photographs
ect. For your enjoyment, the palace has a Billiard room, a
libarary, TV. lounge, board games and squash court.
Further plans for the palace include
restoration of 6 bedrooms, a honeymoon cottage, plan's for a
swimming pool, conference room, the palace museum and the
cafeteria.

Mandu (the fabled city of romance & the largest fortified city
in the world), Maheshwar, Dungapur fort & palace (Rajasthan),
Jaisagar Lake situated on route to Udaipur.
Famed House of Sailana
In the days of raj the Sailana was famous for its Hospitality,
Cuisine, Wine and the cactus gardens. The present Maharaja H.H.
Vikram Singhji and his family still maintain the old standards
of hospitality. On your stay in Sailana the family retainers
will serve you delicious meals prepared from the authentic
Sailana recipes (Some of these recipes can be found in the
cook book "Cooking delights of the Maharajas" by Digvijay
Singhji of Sailana). The book is available on sale at leading
book stores & at the palace.
The palace maintains a world famous cactus garden, the oldest
& largest of its kind in Asia. |
